What you will do
Accurately weigh, measure, mix, portion, shape, bake, assemble, and finish products.
Decorate and present pastry items according to Rovers’ presentation and quality standards.
Follow established recipes, production methods, baking times, temperatures, yields, and portion specifications.
Maintain consistency in taste, texture, appearance, and overall product quality.
Prepare daily mise en place and organize ingredients before production.
Monitor doughs, batters, creams, fillings, and other components throughout preparation.
Properly cool, store, label, date, and rotate ingredients and finished products.
Monitor ingredient freshness, stock levels, and production requirements.
Report shortages, quality concerns, spoilage, unusual wastage, or equipment issues.
Operate ovens, mixers, scales, refrigeration equipment, and other pastry tools safely and correctly.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary pastry production area.
Follow food-safety, hygiene, allergen-control, temperature-control, and storage procedures.
Complete production, opening, cleaning, and closing responsibilities.
Coordinate with bakery, kitchen, and store teams to ensure products are available according to operational needs.
Assist with testing and developing new pastry products when assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in pastry, baking, dessert production, or a professional kitchen is preferred.
- Basic understanding of pastry and baking techniques, ingredient measurement, and food preparation.
- Able to follow detailed recipes, measurements, temperatures, and production procedures accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product consistency.
- Organized, reliable, punctual, and able to manage production timelines.
- Able to work efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and quality standards.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a production team.
- Willing to learn Rovers’ recipes, pastry techniques, and quality standards.
- Comfortable receiving feedback and continuously improving technical skills.
- Willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods and performing regular pastry-production duties.
Nice to have
- Culinary, pastry, baking, or hospitality training.
- Professional experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, café, hotel, restaurant, or commissary.
- Experience preparing cakes, cookies, laminated pastries, breads, creams, fillings, mousses, and plated desserts.
- Knowledge of chocolate work, piping, cake finishing, glazing, and dessert decoration.
- Familiarity with dough fermentation, proofing, lamination, and temperature control.
- Experience using commercial mixers, ovens, proofers, and pastry equipment.
- Knowledge of food costing, portion control, inventory monitoring, and waste reduction.
- Experience with recipe development, product testing, or seasonal menu creation.
- Strong interest in pastry innovation, presentation, and developing new flavor combinations.
