What you will do
Wash, peel, cut, portion, and prepare ingredients according to instructions.
Prepare basic mise en place before and during service.
Assist with simple food preparation and assembly when trained and assigned.
Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, equipment, and preparation surfaces.
Keep kitchen stations, storage areas, sinks, floors, and work areas clean and organized.
Properly label, date, store, and rotate ingredients and prepared items.
Restock ingredients, packaging, utensils, and other kitchen supplies as needed.
Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries.
Monitor ingredient condition and report shortages, spoilage, or damaged products.
Follow food-safety, hygiene, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
Properly segregate and dispose of kitchen waste.
Assist with opening, closing, and deep-cleaning responsibilities.
Support the kitchen team during busy service periods and complete other reasonable operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous kitchen or food-service experience is preferred but not required.
- Willing to learn food preparation, kitchen procedures, and Rovers’ operating standards.
- Able to follow instructions accurately and complete assigned tasks responsibly.
- Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and organized.
- Able to maintain cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Able to work independently when required and cooperate effectively with the kitchen team.
- Willing to receive feedback and learn additional kitchen responsibilities.
- Willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods, lifting kitchen supplies, and performing regular cleaning and preparation duties.
Nice to have
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Helper, Kitchen Crew, Dishwasher, or Food Preparation Staff.
- Basic knowledge of knife handling and ingredient preparation.
- Familiarity with proper food storage, labeling, and FIFO practices.
- Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene.
- Experience working in a restaurant, café, bakery, commissary, or quick-service environment.
- Experience assisting with inventory, receiving, or stock organization.
- Interest in developing cooking skills and progressing into other kitchen roles.
